Most home insurance companies require that a property has a minimum standard of security. Failure to comply with their requirements may leave you uninsured or have penalties imposed on you should you make a claim.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) guidelines require all final exit doors to be fitted with 5-lever mortice locks (or equivelant) conforming to BS 3621 and marked with the BS Kitemark. Rack bolts or security bolts generally fitted to rear back doors.
